WHAT IS THE WHANGĀREI NIGHT LIGHTS FESTIVAL?

A family-friendly night time event for all ages.  Walk-through and experience more than 2,500 square metres of lit natural spaces, waterways and buildings at your own pace.  Showcasing local Northland visual artists specialising in digital media, projection, lighting, sound and immersive experiences.  Supported by Northland performers from diverse arts including fire spinning, circus, dance and entertainers.

The event dates are selected to coincide with Matariki, school holidays and embracing the Moon as one of our guest stars.  Dress for the weather and fires across the event site will keep everyone warm!

Thanks to everyone who supported and visited in July 2023.  Dates and details for 2024 will be announced later this year.

Whangārei Night Lights Festival is an event run by the Northland Burners Arts Collective (an unincorporated not-for-profit group of artists and experience makers).  Our objective is to share immersive experiences with people of all ages and ensure that artists, performers and support staff are fairly remunerated for their effort and contributions.

This event would not be possible without funding from Whangārei District Creative Communities NZ in 2022 and our 2023 key sponsor Quarry Arts Centre.
